Our specialized (High-scope) curriculum recognizes that children learn best through play, and is based on the concept that they achieve this by pursuing their own personal interests and goals. We promote an environment where children get to explore, ask and answer questions, solve problems, and build relationships as they interact and play with classmates and teachers. Teachers participate as partners in our children's activities, fostering and encouraging their exploration of the world around them. We emphasize giving children positive experiences and interaction strategies, adopting a problem- solving approach to social conflict. All in a beautiful, loving, and stimulating environment. Materials are carefully chosen to be age and developmentally appropriate, rotated frequently, and stored at a child's eye level to stimulate their curiosity in exploring their environment. The plan-do-review sequence is used throughout the day where children learn to make a plan, carry it out, and then reflect on the results. Mealtime for our children is another learning experience; they explore trying new and delicious foods prepared in our state of the art kitchen. Meals are served family-style. The children participate in serving the meals, setting the table and learn the skills needed to share meals with others in a social environment. Physical fitness is an important part of our program. Children run, play, slide, and climb, in our safe, well-equipped play-park. There they stretch large muscles and develop the skills necessary for maintaining a healthy body. |
